Variation between different manufacturers (your tire example) and variation among one manufacturer (S2000) are two different things. Like xviper stated, variation among one manufacturer should be insignificant to this topic of wheel fitting.

Haha, all this nit picking over widths and offsets and ride height and camber!! Let's just admit it folks, 98% of aftermarket wheel DO NOT work on this car!! All of these variables made me decide to just keep my OEM wheels. Also I love the stock 16s and I would like to use the money elsewhere on the car.

Volks have many models of rims that are near perfect fitment for this car.

Here's one that's reasonably priced, fitment is pretty good. The fronts are only 7mm closer to the outer fender than OEM 17s and the rear is 9mm.
