New snow shoes are here
I have an MY04, I just bought new 16" rims and Yoko F721's. I got the recommended size for 16" rims, 205/55-16 front's and 225/50-16 rears.
Question for anyone else who has done this, I put the new wheel/tire next to the stock wheel on the car and the new one's seem to be about an inch larger in diameter. Will this be reduced when they are mounted? Is it normal for the diameter to be slightly larger on snows?
Thanks

If you are saying that the snow tires are already "mounted" on the rim and they look like they are about 1" taller, then after you put the snow tire on the car, it should sag just a bit from the car's weight, but I don't think it will be a difference of an inch.
Yes, you do have the correct sizes of rims and snow tires to go on this car. I think that there are several reasons why the diameter is not identical to your OEM wheels/tires. 1st, there can be discrepancies from one tire manufacturer to another. 2nd, snow tires have a bit more tread depth than summer tires.
I don't think you need to be concerned about this small difference. Once they are on the car, they'll work just fine.

Is the car lowered? Did you get the correct offsets on your new 16" rims? Can you see for a fact that something has been ground down from rubbing? You may simply be hearing the suspension bushings squawking under extreme compression when going over large dips.
Rolling radius is what matters. The taller the sidewall the more it deflects under load resulting in the same Revolutions per Distance so 16's should stand taller than 17's and likewise 18's are shorter for the same rolling radii tires.
As far as rubbing with the 225/50-16 which is even narrower than '00-'03 stock tire, that's got to be due to the offset being too low on the 16's

Xviper, the car is stock, not lowered. Not sure what you mean about correct offsets, I guess I don't know what offsets are
I got the exact sizes specified here for an MY04 going to 16" rims. I do see where the rubbing is occurring at just the top of the outside tread. I asked the tire place and they didn't seem to worried since it only happens occasionally.

Yes I can see the picture. Interesting what I ment to say was I got the exact size tires not the rims I guess. Although they don't stick out past the wheel arch. I'll take some pics and post them so you can get what I mean.
Thanks for all the info, I guess I shouldn't have trusted the tire store to get the sizes right, I did verify that the tire sizes are correct though.
