Default snow tired out!

i own a 00s2k, i am looking to put on snow tires on my car, i have researched all the different tires out there....the question i have is that i have a older set of 205/55/16 goodyear high performance snow tires, that i used on my old eagle tolon, they are still in great shape....is it possible to use them on my s2k on front and rear....i know the fronts will work because they are the correct size, but can i put 205/55/16 on the rear, i really dont feel like spending allot of money, also i need a price from the tire rack or other on a cheap set of rims, what am i looking at?

thanks dan

They will work, however, your dry road stability at speed will be severely hampered due to having no "stagger" with the same size tires on all 4 corners. If you put one of these snow tires up against your OEM rear tire, you'll see just how much narrower the snow tire is by comparison. The car will look really odd, but maybe for winter use, you won't mind.
I doubt that you will find cheap wheels at TireRack unless you can get you to sell wheels that are not the correct offsets for the S2000. They tend to sell a direct fit - which means a "staggered" set of wheels. I don't think it is wise to try and put on a 205 tire onto a stock sized rear wheel - just a bit too wide for the tire.

I'm not encouraging to necessary do this but I opted for a set of ADR wheels - 16" X 7" all around BUT I still have staggered snow tires of stock sizes. 7" is a compromise between the 6.5" stock fronts and the 7.5" stock rears. I've used this set up for my 4th winter now. The offset on these is 44mm, so the tires stick out a bit further than the OEM wheels/tires. I've never had a problem with these. The ADR's cost my under $100.00 Canadian each, so you can convert to U.S. $$, assuming you can find them somewhere. You will also need a set of different lug nuts to go with these.
