Nitto NT05s? 235 on Stock AP2 Wheels?
I had this posted in the Road and Track forum, but am not getting much help there.
Looks like it's about that time to swap my tires. I probably have about another month of use left out of them, and am looking at other options outside of OEM to replace them with. The car is currently my daily till the other car is complete, and will be seeing some track time off an on.
At this time OEMs are just to pricey, and I feel it's time to upgrade. I'm liking what I hear about the Nitto NT05s, but they are only available in 235/40/17, and 255/40/17. I know the 255s will fit the rear without issues, but I'm wondering if the 235s may be to much for the fronts. If anyone has experience please chime in, especially if it's with these tires.
Would you recommend going with another tire instead, and why? I had one person say to go with the Star Specs instead, but I've also heard that this tire has a weak tire wall. How do they compare? Are there better options?
Basically looking to replace them with the Nittos, but if that size is not suitable then I need something else. I'm hoping those that have run 235 on a stock AP2 wheel can chime in.
All help appreciated.

it'll look fat. Especially compared to the rear which with 255 will look flush.
Then aside from looks you have to consider if 235 is too wide for the narrow OEM front wheel.

The height differences could be enough to throw off the anti lock brakes. The 235/40R17 is shorter than the stock front tire and the rear tires are taller than the stock tires.

Thank you. Seems most people suggest just to go with something else, so I'm going to try and see what else is out there....maybe the star specs are the best bet....or re11s..

the sizes work fine on the car, no ABS issues for me.
The 235 wont like the 7" width but it can be done.... personally I would go the Dunlop Star Spec route for OEM wheels
I did that this time around...215 front 245 rear and the Star Specs have 3/32 more tread which should net you more tire life
if you really want wider you could go 225 front and 255 rear

I'm going to go with the star specs. The difference between them and the XS is very minimal. In fat I think the fact that the dry performance is almost the same, but the star spec has a much higher wet performance makes it by far the better choice. Price difference is very minimal also.
I'll be going with 225/45 in the front and 255/40 in the rear....now I just need to find a good deal.
