Default Question about rear tire width

...tire width,I can run on a rear wheel,of size 17"x 8.5",with an offset of +50mm.
Car is dropped about 1",with a U.K.spec alignment.
And with that max tire size, what would be the total O.D.compared to OEM 225/50/16??would like to stay as close as possible to OEM O.D.
Thank's

Emil, it depends on the tire you choose because some have a more vertical side wall than others. Generally though with that offset I think 255 is about as wide as you'll be able to go without rubbing, especially lowered. Others can chime in here and correct me if I'm wrong. You can use 255/40/17 and you'll be within 0.2 inches of OEM OD.

Cheers.

Tough call; 265/40 is about a half inch too tall and 265/35 is about a half inch too short, so you potentially have more problems than just rubbing.

I can't say about the rubbing, so I'll defer that question to someone who has something close to your setup.

Emil,

Here's some confirmation that it would rub with 265s.

Best to do what you said and stick with 255s.

Cheers.
