Default Question about sidewall damage

I love my dog. But there are times when he really screws up. Like now. Last night I noticed some interesting damage to the tire. He bit the edge and chewed on it (while it was still on the car). So some of the tread had some damage, but that is minor. The sidewall damage is what i'm worried about. This is on the stock '05 Potenzas. There is no leak (checked with soapy water) and it only looks like it went through 1 ply of the sidewall. How thick are they? Is it possible to repair, if it didn't puncture?

get some pics but any sidewall damage is not repairable, if you can see steel you need a new tire and a new dog.

I don't know but it sounds like Rubber Termites to me...

Will:
I can't help you in this situation about getting a new tire or repairing it. One thing I'm certain is that you shouldn't take hard turns because the stress concentration on the damaged part could fail on you and a puncture will occur while driving.

Hope things work out and be careful,
Andre

It would be real hard to tell without looking at the tire. I doubt the dog would be able to do any real damage to the internal construction of the tire. Just take the car down to a tire store and let them take a look at the tire. If I can help let me know.

Some dogs will eat anything.

My son's black lab used to eat fir 2x4's and plastic handles on screwdrivers. She preferred the Craftsman clear with the red and blue accents.

My son said the dog must have some sort of deficiency. I agreed (not enough brain cells).

My friend came home from work one day and found his dog standing on the neighbors car eating the vinyl top.
