Default Question about wheel width

I want to upgrade my OEM wheels on my MY04 to some 18's....will I notice any decrease in handling by upsizing to an 18x8.5 in rear which of course keeps the same width and going with an 18x7.5 up front which is .5 wider than stock front? I have heard that not keeping the same widths can alter the handling for the worse. Anyone have any experience? I am leaning towards the new LE28n's in diamond black. Thanks

you want to keep the rears wider then the front. if you make them all the same, you will lose a little on handleing... not much but you will lose.. go with the 7.5's in the front and 8.5's or larger in the rear and you'll be fine...

The handling would also depend on the weight of the wheel and the specific tire you choose. I would recommend to keep the tires and wheels staggered on the car as well.
If I can help let me know.

Hey Jim,

I was looking into some Volk LE28n's which I think are around 16 pounds or so....was considering the 225/40's up front and 255/35 in rear....what are your suggesstions??

Also for a tire I have been very happy with the Bridgestones that came stock on the s2000 the RE50's...correct me if Im wrong......what do you recommend between this tire and the S03 Pole Positions.....any pro and cons between the 2....tread longevity is a pretty important factor....I like the handling of the tires I have now and have roughly 8100 miles on them and plenty of tread left....no autocrossing or burnouts or anything and it's my daily driver....Thanks man
