I am happy to report that after pushing back the 2 tabs where the fender liner mounts on each side, I no longer rub. I basically just pushed them back by hand, and then used the handle side of a screw driver to push it up and in. No rubbing what so ever, I left the liners hanging for now in the front, just in case if the tire does go far enough up to hit it, it wont encounter any resistance, I have to go pick up two fender clips to mount it up to the fender. Also now I have been able to lower the car down further, from a 1.5 finger gap, to less than one finger.

My 18's are rubbing like crazy when lowered below 1.5 finger gap. Im running 18 x 8 SSR GT3 +48 ( dont quote me on the offset, might be off) with 225 x 40 rubber.

even though you have solved your problem next time you buy tires make sure that the new tire has a section width =to or less than your current section width on the same width rim.

If the manufacture spec is measured on a different rim as a rule of thumb the section width of a tire changes by +-2/10 of an inch for every +-1/2 inch of rim width.

Example if a 225/40 has a section with of 9.1 on a 9" wide rim and you squeeze it on you 8" wide rim (assuming that this is in the range the tire manufacture said it would fit) the new section width would be approx 9.1minus 0.4 which would give you a final section width of 8.7". and vice versa if the manufacture measured section width was on a smaller width rim and you are going to a wider rim.

Here is another example of how section width can vary greatly ) (17x8+49) my front on order
