Default Running 205/50/16 on ap1

I did search, but could not find my exact answer. I am in the market for tires, especially rears, and my neighbor has a set of 205/50/16 in his garage, brand new, and said if I wanted them, I could take them. I am aware that the stock front size is 205/55. Will this cause a problem with drivability/large gap in the wheel wells? Any info would be great.

Thanks
Ian

It will cause your front to sit slightly higher. It should reduce the gap, but that should not be a concern - it should be on how it handles. the taller sidewall will cause the front to have more flex and will result in a difffernt handeling feel.

The 60 series tire has a 3.16% larger diameter than the 55 series tire.

I would actually be going from a 55 series (stock) to a 50 series. Not sure if you maybe missred that. But thanks for the input.

Specification----Sidewall----Diameter
--205/55-16-------4.4"---------4.9"
--205/50-16-------4.0"---------4.1"

The 50 series will be almost an inch shorter.

Cool info, thanks. I suppose I don't want to loose an inch on the sidewall, that might look goofy. Thanks man.

You only lose 0.05*205 = 10.25mm (less than half an inch) of sidewall, or 20.5mm (just over 3/4") in tire diameter.

What kind of tires (make and specefic model designation) are they? If they're good tires and appropriate for your wants/needs/usage (which are?), I might consider running two of them up front, but I'd probably get new 225/50-16s for the rear unless I was really hard up for $$$.
