stagger proportions
i understand the concept of wheel stagger but i am curious as to keeping things proportional as you size up. it seems like many people stray from stock widths in disproportionate numbers.
i current run toyo t1r's that are sized 215/225 front/rear. i am planning on going wiht a 255 rear but i may not be able to up the fronts to 225 due to offset/spring height issues. i imagine wider tires in the rear while keeping the same size in the front will introduce more amounts of oversteering - is this correct?
is there any general rule of thumb for upping sizes and keeping the stagger proportionate, or is it really just up to driver preference?
thanks guys and gals.

You have oversteer and understeer reversed. Oversteer is a loss of rear traction understeer is a loss of front traction (to put it oversimply). Those 225's you currently have are too narrow for the rear (the stock OEM 225's were really a 245 treadwidth). Try 205/245, 215/245, 215/255, or 225/255 in the appropriate aspect ratios to keep stagger near stock
