Default Stupidest question ever ... no, seriously

Ok so I contemplated not even asking this question b/c I know I will be ridiculed for it, but I'm in law school so I'm used to it

Here goes ... I am buying a set of wheels, 18x7.5 and 18.8.5, and I had two incredibly retarded questions.

First (actually a two part), will I have to get a yellow box to re-calibrate my speedometer? If there are sizes that will allow me to run w/o a yello box, what are they?

Second, will the 18s raise my ride height? I was told that they would essentially lift my car 1" off the ground (over the stock 16"s), but it seems to me that if I was running the correct-size tires, that would not be an issue?

Thank you for your answers in advance, and please, keep it friendly

Use the tire size calculator to find tires that give you diameter as close as possible to the oem diameter. You will not need a yellow box nor will the car be higher if you do this.

Thank you, according to that calculator if I run 215/40/18 front, 245/35/18 rear my speed will be off by relatively 0.5mph, which is fine with me. Thanks again!
