My price on the HTRZ III is 88.00 front and 95.00 rear. Shipping is about 40.00 total so our price is a lot lower. I have driven them in testing and they are a lot better than the S Drive. They are available in the 17" for the S2K but not available for the AP1.
If I can help let me know.

Jim, you said that it's not available for the AP1, not sure what you mean. Do you mean for the stock 16" sizes. If so, it doesn't matter, I'm not getting stock sizes. The sizes I want are (Front) 215/45/17, (Rear) 245/40/17

Now my only concern about buying tires online is that if I get them and one of the tires end up being defective, what do I do. Is that what the Road Hazard feature is for. Your prices are cheaper but when you consider that when you pay the shipping and then get them mounted, your actually no different or a little more. The price for what I can get them is $560 mounted, and taxes in. Come to think of it Tirerack ends up being more expensive.

I guess there's no comment from Jim at Tire rack. My deal is definately the better deal. Ya the per tire price is cheaper but it turns out to be more when you add all the other fees.

So getting them mounted up and balanced by someone, if you dont buy the tires from them, costs you over $100? Thats a total rip off. By what Jim said, the tires should cost you around $415 shipped. Maybe its more expensive where you live, but around here, the Tire Rack recommended installer charged me a flat $50 to mount/balance tires I brought to them.

Unless your $560 price comes with road hazard warranty, I dont see how its cheaper. If it does come with the hazard warranty, its a pretty fair price then.

When I go on Tirerack and price them out it's $578 shipped. Explain to me how that's cheaper then 560 mounted. Not too mention the hassle of shipping the tire back if one is defective or whatever. So if I get the ones from tirerack it will probably be $70 more expensive once mounted. There's no way he can give them to me with shipping and duties and the road hazard for $415.

Of course it's a Canada thing, if ou in the US, it would be cheaper, it's gotta go through customs and I get charged for that. So it's not a good deal for me.

Update:
I have had a chance to try out the Sumitomo tires and so far I like them.
They grip well in dry (haven't driven in the rain with them yet), they are a very little less responsive for quick manuevering than stock RE050's, but are friendlier over bumps, and are more predictable than the RE050's. They are as quiet or quieter than stock on the highway.
With the price difference of these tires compared to stock replacements, I am very satisfied with my choice to go with the Sumi's. Now to see if they last as long or longer.....
