Default Tire question...

I want to buy some 245/45-16 for the rear of my AP1 since the ones the guy put on before me suck. The front are fine but the back are HORRIBLE. What would you guys suggest. I live in Florida so it needs to be good at dry and water not cold or anything...

I want something EXTREMELY sticky. Something that will stick to the road AWESOME like a track tire but also have good wet traction.. What do you guys suggest?

What do you guys think of these?

PROXES T1-R

I was acutally asking about the "R" not the "S" which everyone else has talked about...

How does the T1-R compare to the T1-S... If there's even a difference.

T1-R

T1-S

The best handling tire that I have seen on the car is the Bridgestone S03 Pole Position for wet and dry. It would be an excellent tire for Florida.
If I can help let me know.

I'm new around here, and don't really know your background. I take it you're in sales for Tirerack. Do you have any racing experience?

I disagree about the SO3's being the best handling tire. It really depends what you're interested in using the tire for. As you know, there's no such thing as "the best."

If you're autocrossing, but still want a street tire, the Falken Azenis RT-615's are really hard to beat. They're much better than the S03's, which take a long time to come to operating temperature.

If you're road racing, I'm not a fan of using street tires.

If you're just driving around on the street, there's no need to pay the premium price for the S03's, since you can never take advantage of them on the street. The Toyo T1-S and -R would be really good for that, since they are both have excellent wet and dry traction, and are cheaper. I ran T1-S' on my RSX for the street and autocross last year, and loved them.

I'd also suggest replacing the fronts with the same tires.

Thing is, I just want new rear tires for a few months before I buy rims. I'm saving so I don't wanna spend money on a set of 4 when the rears are the only ones that are messed up. When I do get the new rims I'm just gunna take these rims and put competion tires on for auto-x.

Also, is there a difference between the T1-S and the T1-R besides the way they look?

Then why don't you just get a pair of matching tires to the front (i.e. same brand, model and matching stagger size) and save up for the set to go with the new rims? That'd be an easy decision for me.

Because the rear are cheap as hell.... like 50 bucks a pop no name brand tires some guy put on before me. They squeal like a burnout contest when I reverse out of any parking space.

So I just want some new rears for a few months so I don't look like an idiot with loud squealing tires anywhere I go.

If you get decent tires on the rear and keep the cheapos on the front, you are upsetting the balance of the car. It will probably understeer like crazy.

You will be learning to handle this car with a tire setup that is not ideal.

I suggest you change out the fronts with the same brand as the rears so we don't read your post that says you tried to negotiate a curve and the car slid into a curb.
