Unhappy Tire replacement

I was wondering what was everyones average experience with stock tires on a 05 s2000.

I mostly drive on highways and have seen a little lip on the outter edge of my rear drivers side tire. I am currently at around 5200k. I was told from a friend it could be due to too much PSI but it is the same as the passenger side. I think about 26lbs.

I had an accident two months ago with a curb and had alot of suspension equipment replaced, rims the whole nine.

I just am wondering how long tires last and what is normal wearing on the tire. I will take some pics when it is nice out.

I dont want to take the car back to a dealer and reopen the case, they dented my rocker panel and had to keep the car another week and a half to fix and repaint it.

thanks for any input.

Mark

After the accident I would assume an alignment was done. If not, that would be a good place to start.

26 psi is too low IMHO. I have an AP1 and Honda recommends 32 psi. I suspect the AP2 would be the same. Wear on the outside of the tread is a symptom of under inflation. Is the inside of the tire also worn?

Tire wear is a function of how your drive, temperature, road surface, etc. I would say 20k mi +/- a few thousand would be a good rule of thumb.

Thanks for the PSI info, I will adjust and see what happens.

Yes an alignment was done and the sheet looks fine. I just dont think they used my car.

The rear just does not look right even with the naked eye.

Im going to take it to another shop and have them check the alignment then compare.

I am not sure what kind of wear you are showing but 26psi is too low. Running this low will actually cause the inside and outside shoulders of the tire to wear faster. It would also cause the tires to squirm on the road and not handle as good. It also causes more heat build up in the tires.
I agree with getting the alignment checked and up the air pressure.
