You can run 225/45R17 front and 255/40R17 rear. If I can help with the tires let me know.

One more size option: 215/45-17 front, 255/40-17 rear (stock CR sizes).

On the street, not really any benefit to going wider. Anyway, selecting the best tire for your wants/needs/usage is more important than the size selection.

If you want tires in a similar performance class as OEM (Max Performance Summer), Hankook Ventus V12 Evo is going to be hard to beat.
For a little more money, Dunlop Sport Maxx TT or Continental ExtremeContact DW also look good.

I went from stock size to the CR sizes w/ Hankook RS3's. I lost all my understeer problems and can take turns much faster. However, this was my 2004 ap2. You'd probably have better tire life with the tires ZDan mentioned though.
