Default Torn between Conti DW and BFG g-Force C2

I have a 2001 AP1 with AP2V1 wheels. When I bought the car five years ago I installed new Star Specs all around. I've put about 20k on the car and the rears are shot. I don't track the car so I'd prefer to buy some tires that will last longer.

I've narrowed the options down to Continental ExtremeContact DW and BFGoodrich g-Force Sport COMP-2. They are the same price so that is not an issue. They both have tread wear ratings of 340. I did notice the COMP-2 is 3# heavier than the DW. That seems like a lot and makes me wonder if that equates to a stiffer sidewall but according to TR the DW is actually the higher performance tire.

I'd of course like the car to still handle well and wet performance needs to be decent. I thought the Star Specs worked great in the rain but now that they are down to the wear bars they are just scary.

Any guidance is appreciated!

I have the Comp 2's (got a deal on them) on my MINI and they are night and day difference than the runflats. They are sized 205/45/17 and look wider than the same sized runflats they replaced. They are great in the dry and wet and ride great over rough roads.

I really wanted the DW myself as well and probably would have gone that way if the prices were the same at the time. FWIW, Continential offers a manufacture's road hazard warranty on their tires.

I've had both star specs and DW...

Rain performance is definitely better with the DW...
With comfort, grip, road noise... I think the DW is a better street tire overall.

DW's are a great DD tire for the price. I will buy them again unless Bridgestone RE11's are the same price. Both have good ride and quiet performance with good wear with the RE11's being better.

I have not tried the Pilot Super Sports in the current 255/40 - 225/45 because they did not have that size at that time but would not hesitate to try them if the price was close?

Best "cheap tire " out there ...I had em and let me tell you the extra cash is IMO ...well worth it for the Pilot Super Sports ...In all my years of driving no tire comes close to how good this new tire is , Its worlds apart and about ten times better than the DW ....dont do it ...save the cash buy the best and laugh at the rest ...
