Default Trying to go with a "Beefier" look...

Hi All,

I have been running 255/35/18 on my 18x9.5 and +50 offset. My car is lowered and they seem to be a perfect fit all around with the exception of the rears slightly rubbing during quick dips. I have my fenders pulled slightly all around as-well.

Now...I want to go thicker sidewalls with no fitment issues and wanted insight from anyone who has experience with thicker sidewalls and a smaller width tire install.

What do you think would be the equivalent of my current setup for a "beefier" look equal?

My guess:

255/35 = 245/40 = 235/45 for an even all-around fit?

Thoughts?

Terrible idea. The equivalent to your 255/35 would be a 225/40. However the sidewall height would look the same, but extremely stretched. If you actually change your sidewall thickness without moving down to a 17" rim, you will negatively effect your fitment and gear ratio. Your best option is to move to a 16" or 17" wheel like factory.

What are you rubbing on? There is no way that setup should rub. As for the beefier look you are going to wrong way. The way to make the tire look wider is to get a wider tire not a narrower tire. The sidewall number is a percentage of the width so getting a narrow tire with a hire ratio will have the same height sidewall but less tire in between those sidewalls thus doing the opposite of what you are trying to achieve. What tires are you running? Certain tires run narrower or wider so changing the tire could be an option. This won't give you a taller sidewall but it will look wider on the rim.

Probably hasnt relocated the rear bumper tab, and proper alignment may be off as well.
