Default Unusual tyre problem

How do people find Kumho Tyres V70A in terms of fitment? I'm thinking of buying some soon. Do they come up small. I see that they have no rim protector does that make much difference?

A lot of R comp tires sit like that on the rim. They are constructed different then your typical summer tire with a "bead/rim protector".

I guess the sidewall is stiffer to prevent side movement compared to your average road tyre

Should be fine. Back when I used to run VictoRacers they looked exactly the same. As mentioned, no rim protector. It does look odd but that's just the way they are.

The sizing is way off from what i just read

I ran the federal 595 rsr before in 255 and 225 and the measurements come up as this

225/45/17 width of 230mm
255/40/17 width of 260mm

The V70A

215/45/17 width of 220mm
245/40/17 width of 240mm

I know the federals were a size up but 20mm difference is alot when it should only really be 10mm

I guess because these don't have soft sidewalls they wont stretch compared to the others. I would of thought the whole point of the 225 etc measurements is that they should be accurate! Whats the point otherwise.

I cant run the tyres like this, they would be fine on the track but we have pot holes over here in the UK and they will wreck my wheels if it hits the wheel rather than the tyre. In hindsight i should of checked the specs of the tyres. Live and learn i guess

Yep, the Feds run wide for their size and your current run on the narrow side. There is some inconsistencies between manufactures (mainly on widths not heights) so always best to look at the actual tire specs before buying.

I think you will be fine running that setup. If you had of known ahead of time, you could have gone with 225/255 instead of the 215/245 setup, but as I take it this is a track setup and not as much a dd setup the functionality is more of a concern than the aesthetics.
Nice grippy looking tires, so I bet it is quite an upgrade regardless of the fact that they run narrow.
