Default wheel balancing

Hey all,

I just replaced all of the tires on the S2000. I stuck with the SO2's from Tirerack. Anyway, I have
2 concerns. The first part is I noticed there are no weights on the inside rims that I normally see from balancing the tires. Is there any cause for concern here? I remember when I first got the car they all had them. When the rears were replaced, the weights changed in size but were still on the inside rims. Now, after replacing all of them, none of them now have it. The second part is the people who changed the tires really overinflated the new tires on the car.It was not uniform in air pressure. The driver front tires were 37psi, the rear was 41psi, the passenger front was 43psi and the rear was 44psi. I say that was pretty bad. What makes it worse is I was not there for it, my wife took care of it. This was done yesterday and I just checked it today to make sure they all had the correct air pressure and that the lug nuts were tight. Please let me know if this is not possible to do with no weights being on the car. Thanks.

that would be truely MAGICAL if the wheels/tires required no weights at all. i'd ask for your $$ back and take it somewhere that has a high-end hunter road force balancing machine(and knows hot to use it). those psi's are UNACCEPTABLE!!!!

maybe the shop had never seen a wheel that didn't take clamped-on weights.

That sucks. Tire rack's site listed these people as a recommend installer. So, I need to go back to these people and tell them to do it again?

Yes you should complain and have them redo the work. Who was the installer? I would like to let our guys know what is going on.

Judging from the "possible" incompetence, you better check all your wheel lugnut torques, too. They may have overtightened them and this has been shown the snap off wheel studs AND warp brake rotors. This tire shop should be put on the black list for anyone in your area.

Jim,

This was Tire Exchange of Mauldin,SC. I have not been able to get ahold of them yet and I am planning to
swing by tomorrow (Friday) morning to get this fix before I leave for Atlanta, GA at 12PM. I am disappointed that I have to go back and waste my time some more before leaving. Now, it makes me wonder whether the alignment work they did was unnecessary. They told my wife that they were all off. It wouldn't surprise my if they were since we have alot of pot holes in the area right now.I paid $151 dollars total. $80 for mount and balance + $16.00 for tire disposal and new valve stems and $54.95 for 4 wheel alignment. How much should I demand a refund for in addition to redoing the wheel balancing correctly?

Thanks again.

OK, it's all good. Went back there and explained the possible problem and went over it with a manager. It was balanced. You just can't see them at all. The weights are on the inside rims out of view. Only way to see them is to get under the car. Jim, they did an EXCELLENT job going over this with me. I recommend them now and will tell my friends to go there. I am happy now.
