You're going to need a lot of camber + stretch tires if you want to run low, but a little pull with probably be recommended.

not to highjack this thread... but 17x8+45/50 fronts with 215/225 or 17x9+45/50 with 245 be a much better set up??

10mm offset change makes 10mm difference.
Think of the difference between a 1mm gap vs. the tire trying to rub 9mm into the fender.
You are going to have less of a problem fitting +45 offset wheels. Personally, I'd want even more offset than that in order to fit wider tires.

depends what you want to do. If you're going to track the car [often] 17x9 +50 255/40/17 all the way around would be preferable. Otherwise, I'd look at a staggered setup, something like

17x8 +45 f 225/45
17x9 +50 r 255/40

it'll be fine i have 8.5 and 9.5 + 38 with 225 and 245 front and rear not super low but it doesnt rub

I'm currently running 17x8,9 +35 on 215/245 star specs. Rolling rears and relocating bumper tabs should be fine for rear, but the fronts are gonna need to be pulled depending how low you are. Also you will need to run camber in the rears. I'm running -2.5 front and -3.5 rear.
