Default Yokohama Avid Envigors

Posted in another thread regarding this topic but it seems to have been overlooked so I thought I'd start a new topic seeing how I couldn't find any other information anywhere on here regarding these tires.

I recently purchased some ap2v1 rims and I am now looking to purchase some all season tires to mount to them. I have been looking into the Yokohama Avid Envigors in the stock sizes, 215/45/17 front and 245/40/17 rear.

I realize they are a relatively new tire so there is probably nobody with direct experience with them, but they seem to be getting some pretty good reviews from people based on the research I have done.

Jim, I was wondering if you had an opinion or any feedback on these? I am debating giving these tires a shot over the continental DWS (which would be my second choice for an all season tire).

I do not drive the car very hard, and it is my daily driver so I would like some tires that are going to last a little longer which is why I am choosing to go with all seasons. I realize I will be sacrificing some dry grip by running all seasons instead of summer tires but I am ok with that.

I have dedicated winter tires for the winter season, so performance in the snow is irrelevant as these Yokohama's will not be seeing any snow.

I will however be using them in the spring/summer/fall so they will be seeing some cooler temperatures at times (Canadian climate!).

So basically I want an all season tire with:
-good tread life for daily driving use (most important factor)
-decent dry grip (for an all season of course)
-decent performance in cooler temps (without factoring in performance in the snow as these tires will not be driven in any snow)

Based on my needs is this a good tire choice or should I be exploring other options?

Another tire worth considering based on your needs/expectations.

Isn't the Hankook a summer tire? In any case, I'm also interested in people's opinions on this tire or any other all-season tire.

The tires mentioned above don't have near the same tread life as the ones I am considering. The avid envigors have a 560 UTQG and the Continental DWS have a 540 UTQG. I realize these measures are subjective across tire manufacturers but I think I have narrowed it down to these 2 choices.

These 2 tires are similarly priced and seem to have similar ratings in most areas. Although it should not affect my decision personally I think the continentals have a very ugly tread design, so if all else were equal I would choose the Yokohama's simply because I think they are a better looking tire.

Here is the list I am considering from, as you can see the avid envigors and continental dws are at the top.

Tire list based on tread wear ranking
