Default Tire change... What a difference

Replaced the Bridgestone RE050s with new Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. The ride is much more compliant, bumps absorbed better and just a more comfortable drive.
In addition the handling and confidence in turns is much improved. Will be autoX this weekend to see how that goes. Can’t believe the improvements to the ride!

Tires easily make some of the biggest difference in terms of performance, ride quality and handling, especially on a car that comes this well built from the factory. I just slapped on a set of Dunlop Direzza Z3s and the car feels absolutely glued to the ground.

Yeah, aged rubber, wear, and older technology. Bound to be a huge improvement.

I too just replaced an aging set of RE050s that were installed by the previous owner. I stuck with Bridgestones but went with the S-04 Pole Postion. I’ve had very little time in the car since then, only taking it out for a couple of errands. But I was really surprised at how much difference the new tires made in terms of compliance as noted above.

Which tires are best for california weather? summer tires should suffice?

Last time I looked California is pretty big. Climate is often described as Mediterranean but I doubt summer tires will be good in mountain snow, even there.

California Route 68 (I think) in Amador county:



I've never run anything other than summer tires in Ohio and Virginia -- but I don't drive in snow or when it's cold. Mountains aside you'll be fine.

True!! for clarification it's near los angeles. So more mediterannean. I like that pic for sure.
