Just got our 2003 S2000 back from an oil change, and the shop noted that both front tires were worn bald on the insides, while the outside tread was at over 50%.

We bought the car new, it is bone stock, and have 24k on the clock. My wife drives it the most, being more passive than a blue haired lady going to church, however, I am much more agrresive, but only have about 3k of cockpit time.

The car has never been curbed or wrecked, and I reguarly checked the air pressure in all tires. I also replaced the rear tires about 2k ago, with even wear on the old set.

Any ideas or comments?

My AP2 front tires are similar, the inside treads are wearing out faster than the outside treads. I believe that the problem is too much toe out which will be fixed by alignment when I buy new front tires. The temporary fix was flipping the front tires inside out and inflate pressure up to 36-38 psi to reduce wear on the inside treads.

Inside tire wear is perfectly normal and expected on a car which runs negative camber on factory alignment settings. I have yet to get over 10K out of any set of rear or 15K out of any front tires with factory alignment or any of the more aggressive alignment settings I have run over the years.
Just part of the cost of doing business, the treadwear rating on the stock tires is 140, the avg. passenger car is in the 300-400 range. Do NOT skimp on tires, and do not stretch them beyond their usable life, doing so is just asking for trouble.

Thanks TR and Mike...and of courseI willbe replacing the tires (with good ones)...I was just curious about the wear pattern, as I have never seen a car need an alignment after such short mileage, and no impacts.
