Default Bow shooting

Anyone here shoot bows? I have found a new sport to relax my mind during my break up. I just imagine her. LOL

Over the weekend I went camping with family. My Uncle gave me my Dads old recurve bow(my Dad died when I was 5) so it was a very cool thing to do since my Uncle was very close to my Dad. I could tell it was hard for him to let it go.

But what a relaxing sport, pulling that arrow back aiming and wooosh damit left again lol. But it would be cool if some of the S2k guys did this. I know where there is a club house and could be a fun party.

You and Ted Nugent, right.

I haven't done archery since I was in summer camp a LOT of years ago.

It does sound like fun though.

Kletsch Park on Green Bay Road in Glendale, (North of Bender, South of Green Tree) has some targets set up for public use if you are ever in the area.

Don't worry. If I shot you in the face, it wouldn't be an accident.

Archery is a great activity both at the range and in the context of hunting. My archery start was with a recurve that my uncle gave me. I did pretty good with it on targets. But where I really enjoyed that recurve the most was bowfishing for carp on the Fox River in the Oswego, IL area where I live.

After that, I of course wanted more power (just like in cars!) so I got my first compound bow, a PSE that shot arrows at just over 200 feet per second. New models can shoot over 300 fps. My accuracy went through the roof with that bow, partly because of the bow and because I practiced more. I got my first deer with that bow. I don't deer hunt anymore, because I just don't like venison.

Hunting with a bow is a whole different ball game that with a firearm. You need to be MUCH stealthier and MUCH more accurate with your weapon. Physically it's more taxing too.

There is such a wide range of bows/arrows/crossbows available now that anyone in any skill/money range can find something to shoot and have fun.

I haven't shot much in the last few years but your post has put a spark up and I am going to shoot this weekend, thanks!!!

Helmet? You won't see it coming from 60yards.

I too like you have become hooked. I also am fighting a left eye dominate eye and still trying to shoot a right handed bow. My cousin is very good at shooting with this same handicap and has help alot. Nailed my first 3 bullseyes last Wed. Man this is a fun sport, just you and yardage. I am going to try to improve enough to go and try to get my first deer this winter.

If you are ever up let me know and we can go to where I have gone and shoot some targets. They have 30 acers of woods and lots of trails and targets.
