Default Fat man considering an S2k

Morning everyone,

I am a fat man. I know this and accept this - I am 5'10 and weigh 350 lbs.

I currently drive a EK civic and fit in that reasonably well and find it comfy for driving.

4 months ago I started to save for a replacement car, and originally was considering either a EP3 type R or a DC5 Integra - I currently have £3.5k saved.

On the 6th of January I decided to make a life change and loose weight and have been the most focused I have ever been in my life. I started this weighing 372 lbs so have lost as of this morning 22 lbs.

My question to you all is, at what weight will I be able to fit & drive an S2k? I am not looking to buy one now I would prefer to have about 5-6K saved before starting to shop for one, but I do not know at what point/size i will realistically fit in one.

Any input gratefully received, cheers

Rob

Well there is no specific weight that will either allow or not allow you to fit. Everybody holds weight differently. But here are 2 links with people with similar questions. and a quote from one thread

Link 1

Link 2

"I knew I guy who was about your height but close to 300 lbs. He had a little trouble closing the door sometimes but he fit!"

"Im 5'10 and probably well over 300 by now and Im fine. But I really need to get on the weight loss thing."

Hey Rob,

It is a tight squeeze. I would set a weight goal for yourself. When you achieve it, buy the car!

It's worth it!

I have a neighbor who autocrosses an early Miata but cannot get comfortable in an S2000 due to seat width, and he's <300. That might be worth taking into consideration.

Better yet, set your sights on an early Lotus Elan, and when you fit, you'll have achieved truly laudable weight loss! Good luck w/both projects.

Thanks everyone for the comments and support, the only problem I have is finding one locally that I can 'borrow' for a sit in test, I will contact my areas local Honda group and see if anyone lives locally who owns one and would not mind me having a sit in one (or trying!)

I think I will have about 6k saved up which should be sufficient to get a facelifted 04 AP1, did they do a GT model with the hardtop then or did that not come in till later like 06+?

I had been looking for 1 massive motivation for this weight loss, other than health being alive etc, squeezing my ass into a s2k might just be the ticket

I'm 6'0" 270 lbs and fit decent in the S2000. If you get under 300lbs, I think you will be fine. Only concern will be the stress you are putting on your legs and especially knees as you lower your weight into the car. Use this as motivation to lose weight and get into a healthier lifestyle.

I will say that you won't be able to carry any passengers or appreciable cargo. There's a 400 lb weight limit on passengers and cargo combined. At least that's what the sticker says. This is what happened to the last S2000 who's owner who didn't heed that warning:

I kid (about the fire). It will be rough on your knees and there's no such thing as an '04 AP1. Hardtop is an option for any year and if by GT you're referring to the CR, that was '08-09.
