Default Air pump bypass/removeal

How do I remove the air pump without setting off a CEL in the stock ECU? Can the circuit be bypassed?

There is a small Japanese company that makes an air pump eliminator thats suppose to take care of the CEL with the stock ECU.

http://www.orangeball.jp/parts/0001.shtml

Its designed to be used with Japan ECU's but I can't imagine the wiring to be any different between our markets.

If Rylan or one of the other race car guys has a solution(other then taking the bulb out or ignoring it) I'd like to know as well.

For the "orange ball" device to work the JDM ecu would have to use the same OBDII air pump monitor the North American spec cars use.

As far as I know, both the Australian and Japanese spec ECU's are not OBDII compliant.

The monitor the PCM runs for air pump operation is pretty complicated. Current draw of the pump, and O2 sensor activity are used to determine that air is being injected into the exhaust. The simulator would have to fake out pump current draw, (which changes from 1st start up to continuos operation) and 02 sensor input.

The Mugen (as do the other JDM perf ECU's) doesn't support the Immobilizer, Airpump, or the Evap system.

Tell me what the inputs and outputs are and I can design you a circuit board.

Will any of the emissions related conditions cause the ECU to go into a "safe" mode, reducing performance, retarding timing or anything like that?
I'm pretty sure there is no "safe mode", at least for the pre-04 ECUs. It's been discussed a lot, but no one has ever documented the existence of any such creature.
