Discuss and debate STR rules and change proposals...

EDIT:
1 - added last question to poll, it will not allow any more questions to be added, apparently it is limited to three.
2 - added option 4 to ECU question, no ECU mods allowed (recall current rule)

Thanks Rob!

My proposal is to keep it simple. These may not seem likely or even happen, but worst case, the rules seem to work pretty well as-is.

1. All S2000s can update/backdate
2. Full ECU tuning
3. Eliminate expensive stuff like diffs, aero (non factory), etc.
4. Mandatory beating if someone blames their car for their performance!
5. Continue the good sportsmanship like we have been spoiled with in B-Stock (old A-Stock)

With the popularity of STR, the write ups, the radio feeds/coverage, etc, lets not spoil it. This class has lots of potential.

Could someone direct me to more information on this and what it would mean between the models AP1 vs AP2?

Sorry for the noob question, I am still new to the S2000 and have not looked into engine tuning per STR rules yet.

Absolutely not. This door was closed years ago. We don't wan't franken"S", an AP1 with an AP2 motor and all the CR delete's.

I tried, so what do you propose?

I propose nothing, STR is great the way it is.

All this fussing over the CR needs to stop, run what you got and drive your guts out. I bought a base 08 for many reasons over buying a CR, I will make up for the 100lbs with driving as hard as I can. I was very seriously looking for a CR, but realized I wouldn't enjoy driving it everyday, I love top down cruising, and don't wish to deal with top removal at every event. Besides, people are thinking the CR is the only car in the class, I still have my MX5, and it was one bad mamma jamma. I bought another S2000, because I miss the power, style, and challenge, I don't believe it is any faster than the MX5, I believe they are both very close in performance, and will come down to day, driver, course and attitude.

I have a poll:

How many CR owners drive their car everyday? Stock vs. STR prep? With or without AC and Radio?

How many base S2000 owners driver their car everyday? Stock vs. STR prep?

I'll start:

Base 08, stock for now, will be STR prep, and daily driver

I daily my STR prepped ap1 everyday on triple adj JRZ shocks.

Leave the CR alone. If you think it's a advantage then save up for a year and buy one. Taking it out of play would be a bad ideal. We would risk lossing to mx-5's all the time. I'd rather keep the s2k at the top.

Both Jay and I used to frequently drive our CRs, but after the first year it kinda wore off. Shortly after I got the CR in mid 2008, I got an 09 Pilot. It was much better on my back and knees compliments of sports injuries. The best S2000 to daily drive is the 04-05 imo. I had an 05 before the CR. I miss it the most and felt like the suspension worked great around town. The CR is pretty much a trailer queen at this point. We have only put 1k on it since 2009. If the rules don't change as Dan suggests, I would at least like to see some edit tolerances for the 00-05 model s2000.

I don't drive my S2000 except at autocrosses. If delete became the de facto setup, I would sell the car. I like AC even in grid.

Other than James' terrific ECU proposal, I wouldn't make changes to a class that very clearly is not broken. Thanks/Des

Hell yeahs on #1 and #2!!

Hmm... While I am dreaming, why not make easy and have the ST classes be basically SP-T.
