Thanks Rob, I didn't think about that. The micro fiber towel is working for now. I'll change it when I do the final install after tuning.

For anyone interested in the launch control feature of the EU..

My base settings-

I tried to set the throttle % to 75 but it didn't kick in every time so I dropped it to 65% and now it works every time.

Testing that it works for the first time- (just noticed the poof of black soot that came out. I guess the pressure blew the built up soot out of the exhaust)

Testing the launch-

As you can see I have way to much spin. I'm either going to drop the starting RPM or increase the VS pulse. Theres side effects to increaseing the VS pulse but I'm not sure how much I should drop the starting RPM. I know I need to kee it above 5k because thats my cross-over but unsure on how close to get to that cross over number without causing issues. Clearly 6100 is to high for the surface I tested the car on. It left a 100+ foot black mark.

FYI - I finally got to test the VTEC control using the auxiliary output and it worked with no modification to the Boomslang K&A harness.

I was also able to route the harness behind the ECU to allow the kick panel to be put in place. The harness wires fit very snugly but everything is tightly in place with no movement.

As indicate previously the upper right corner is held in place with the rubber grommet.

Well FML guys. Car ran fine with the EMU the other day but now it's making a popping noise under load above 5000rpms or so. The only thing I did was change my launch settings but even changing them back it's still popping under load. Almost mike a miss. I tried to make a video of it but you couldnt hear the noise.

Have you run with everything disabled on the map selection page?

Yup I tried that minus I didnt delete the launch control setting I just changed them back to 6100, 65%, and 4. I unplugged the EU and plugged the stock ecu up and the car runs fine. I don't get it.

Because a cat is necessary where are most of you guys setting VTEC? From all the reading I've done it's only really ideal to have it really low if you can run a test pipe.

What does "really low" mean?

The VTEC RPM only needs to be lowered enough to smooth out the power/torque curves. To do that it's in the 4500 to 5500 range.

At the stock VTEC point of 6000 there is a big step function in power/torque. If you did a tune prior to changing VTEC then you could more precisely determine where it needs to be to make the curves more linear.

In the end it somewhat depends on your mods and specific engine to determine that point.

If you look in the engine management section gernby did a buttload of testing with various test pipes and HFCs and found that if you had a cat on the car and had VTEC at say 4000rpm you'd end up with this funny dip in your powerband. The only way he ever got around that dip was to have a no cat at all. I want to say he found if VTEC was set around 5400-5500 you'd be ok because the dip occurs just before that.

With a test pipe the car made more power always by having VTEC set around 3900-4200.
