Default Help

So what's up guys new to forums here, I have had my s2000 since April and it would seem every time I fix something another thing goes lol. My current problems include idling weird, oil burning and oil lost. What I know it needs are rings and a rear main seal how much would a rebuild cost and how can I prevent anymore damage? Is it worth it or should I just buy a new engine and try to swap it my self? Any advice is appreciated thanks

Whatsupppppp? Not sure how I'd pronounce your handle.

Where are you located? If you are closer to the city set up an appointment with Billman on Long Island. If you are in the capital district then send a PM to JSEnclosure. He can guide you as to your issues and maybe even fix your car for you.

Haha yea I'm in the capital district about 10min shy of Albany though I don't plan on really doing too much with it as I have to buy another car for winter I would like to get a quote as to what it would cost to get this thing in tip top shape again

Buying a used engine and swapping it in will definately be cheaper than rebuilding your current engine and dealing with the downtime. Used engines range from 2500-3500 based off mileage. A rebuilt would cost you 5000 at a bare minimum, you'd have to sleeve the block since you cannot hone these engines. My advise is to buy a used engine and part out your existing engine to help offset the cost. If you need someone to swap the engine, I can do that, I've done quite a few and owned 9 of these cars myself.

Vouch for a top notch mechanic.

Jake has swapped engines in my race car along with many other parts so he is VERY familiar with the process..

He also has a health supply of part, fasteners and odd ball pieces which helps cut down the trips to the dealer !.

Engines pop up for sale quite often on the forums, which as Jake said is much more cost effective than rebuilding an F20c (I have rebuilt 2 engine both cost over $10k in parts and labor).

Once you have an engine then I would plan on spending another $1500 - $2000 for parts and labor. You WILL replace the clutch as part of the process which will be another cost to factor in.
