Advice on handling/grip for a 1999

If you want to go for some 16" track tyres I can recommend the DZ03G, they are absolutely amazing tyres. Also there were a set of nearly new BC Racing coilovers in the for sale section the other day just in case you were thinking of calling it a day messing about with the mismatched dampers and springs.

- matched suspension - later springs dampers/ coilovers/ eibachs all round
- alignment - as per what lg said in the link - -1* front camber, -2*rear camber, zero front toe, rear, 10-15minutes toe in each side will help.
- tyres (the ones you have a pretty good anyway). but the 17's are meant to make the car faster, even if its the only change to make, theres a vid on youtube about it. best motoring in japan, its subbed so you know what they are on about.
- this hasnt been said yet, but i noticed a massive difference when i fitted lower braces to my old my99 car, the rear lower brace made a really big difference to the feel of the car, the front not as much, but still noticable, would definately recommend these as well. the later cars had additional bracing so the gain isnt quite as obvious. they can also be fitted with a just a jack, axle stands and a couple of difference sized sockets in about 10 minutes. you can even make your rear one out of some 20x50mm box section. theres a diy on here somewhere.

I agree, my first port of call would be normalising your suspension - it's topsy turvy!
You ran with a firm Eibach progressive spring at the front, a much softer (in comparison) OEM linear spring at the rear.
As well as that, you ran OEM front shocks and Koni rear shocks. They have different characteristics and then there is the issue of how firm the rear was compared to the front.
It's no surprise the car isn't handling as well as you may have wanted; albeit, the pre-face lift is more lairy at the back than a facelift, I would not be happy with that suspension setup.
So ideally you need to make a choice and take action:

- Koni Shocks & Eibach Springs
- Koni Shocks & OEM Springs
- OEM Shocks & Eibach springs
- OEM Shocks & OEM Springs (but assume you won't want this option if you're looking to drop the car)
- Best to get OEM shocks (if you go this route) all from the same year car, as they vary throughout the years
- Koni adjustable shocks have two perches which allow you to fine tune your ride height depending on springs chosen. Lower perch is good for OEM springs and upper perch good for aftermarket/lowering springs.

Cheers for all the advice guys.
My plan is as follows:
1. Buy koni shocks for the front and fit my rear eibachs to 'even things out'
2. Get my alignment done and add camber etc
3. Get some spare wheels and some sticky tyres.
Then I'll have a go on track and see what difference it makes.
From there I will look into strut braces and toe arms etc.
....Not sure how I'm going to do this, This afternoon I spent more on an engagement ring than I did buying my S2000 lol.
