Default Dumb idea to import a car...

Hey guys so just putting my thoughts down... I have seen some super cheap s2000's in the UK like £8000 fully set up with a turbo kit and everything. Now would it be worth it to sell my s2k here and just take the money to import one in? How much more would I be expecting to pay for shipping and everything. I know it's probably stupid but it was worth asking lol.

UK - US import guide seems a good place to start.

You can't just import any car, read this for some more info: http://jalopnik.com/here-are-the-fou...uni-1682067632

I'd also be very careful importing a car from the UK. Rust is a major issue.

How much for shipping, it would offset most if not all the savings I bet, just like on a hardtop.

Not to mention buying a car unseen in person isn't usually the best idea.

Furthermore, turbo cars are going to be a lot more in upkeep, especially if you can't diy most everything, and even then..

Re-look at the title of your thread. plus those crazy Brits drive on the wrong side of the road so the car would always be wanting to go the wrong way/ lol

I'll just say that you guys in the states are neutered by the 25 year import law. Start there. So in a nutshell it would be a dumb idea because once the car landed, it would be confiscated and crushed. Because no S2000 is 25 years or older. There may be an exemption if you use the car for closed course racing.

I don't know that I would call that super cheap:

£8000 = $12,000

Once you factor in all the various fees, I am sure you can find a better S2000 here in the states for the money.
