Section of tach - cluster no longer illuminates
I just noticed this evening two of the orange bars in the tachometer on my guage cluster no longer lights up, on both high and low dimmer settings. It's two small orange bars above the 3K rpm marking.
Just wondering what would need to be done to fix this?

sounds like part of the LCD display has crapped out..... I believe the LCD display "opens" to let the backlight through, thus the lighting. I dont think there is really anything you can do for it short of getting a new LCD board....
I am not the authority on this, though. MacGyver...... paging Macgyver....

r_duff - Do you happen to have a scale template that you used for your acid etching? I am looking into trying something similar to yours over a few weekends, but I need some sort of a template as to where to solder the lights / etch the board.
Thanks!

My 2005 S2K tach has a "weak" lighting image which makes it very difficult to see esp. at low rpms. My recollection is that it was always visible throughout its range tho' somewhat brighter at the higher ranges. Is this "fixable" (from above, probably not) or does the LCD assembly have to be replaced. If so where can I get one cheap - Honda list is $656.
