I found this thread, sunday afternoon I was leaving a show and rolled into first, felt the tires break free, and it slammed the limiter, and I tried to get it into 2nd, and it would't go, so I let off revs came down slid into second and coasted to the stop sign.

Went to put it in first, and no dice. Won't go at all. So I took off from second, even with the cat off it won't go in first, rest of the gears are fine.

Haven't had any issues with this, but I'm going to pull it this week and give it a shot.

I replaced the countershaft on my 99 Si back in the day, and replaced the open diff for an lsd unit. So I'm hoping this isn't to hateful.

Don't you hate it when you look for an old DIY and all of the pics are too old to load?

Well I converted the DIY into a PDF since this will be used for a long time to come.

@ronnuke - Curious, it seems you mentioned you did this because of only your second gear? Was their any other damage or other parts you had to replace?

I ask because my second gear stopped engaging recently after going through gears the other night. None of my gears have ever really grinded and then all of sudden my second is shot and feels like putting it in neutral.
Granted my car has around 500 at the wheels so that may have had something to do with it (lol). Car has 70k miles

I read somewhere where someone said if you have to replace the second gear set, good chance you have to also replace main shaft.

***** Did you have to replace your mainshaft? *****

I just ordered my second gear set and as soon as it comes in, my local Honda said they can install it.
