Default How much do you pay for Insurance for S2000?

Good news is that I just bought an S2000 after months of looking - 2007 with 67k miles!

Bad news is insurance is nearly $80 a month for full coverage, $500 deductible, 3000 miles s year for a 50 year old with no accidents on record and a couple of tickets!

This rate seems way too high. I could have bought a 2007 Corvette or 911 and have similar rates!

I was wondering how much others are paying for insurance? I am trying to get a general picture of the rates for S2000's.

It's going to vary far more than you would imagine (deductible, coverage amounts, rental, liability, # of cars, etc) and there are several threads on this already.

Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.

I'll learn to use the search a bit more thoroughly next time.

No worries, it's just insurance is one of those tricky things. Mine is $62/mo as a 'Pleasure Vehicle' with under 5k miles a year IIRC. That's not including the coverage on my modifications. Which, if you plan on doing, is something you should look into.

As always with this question: get quotes. You have no idea if it's "too high" or not unless you get multiple quotes specific to your situation. There are far too many variables to have meaningful comparisons in threads like this.

As well as:
Location
Age
Gender
Marital status
Credit
Insurance company (not all use the same criteria)
Discounts for having multiple insurance products
...and so on

You didn't check before buying? That's a standard recommendation around here. Price of the S is just the start. Consider TCO.

How do you know the rates for Corvettes and 911's? If you got quotes for them then get quotes for the S.

I pay $95 a month to insure my S and one other vehicle, both with basic full coverage. So the S is about $50. I am 37 with no tickets within the last 5 years (I think) although I have had several, I just pay the money to get them dropped off my record with a traffic lawyer, $350 a pop but its pays in the long run.

I remember those days. Yes behave, or next time get a traffic lawyer and keep a clean record moving forward. Also that seems rather high still for one ticket, you may want to shop around again.

Location, location, location. Age, age, age. Two biggest factors in deciding what you'll pay.

I have 3 cars insured in S. Florida. I'm 35, male, married.

TL is about $90/mo.
Cayman S is about $105/mo.
S2k is about $115/mo.

Yes, just over $300/mo for 3 cars. Full coverage, $200k/$500k policy limits, $250 deductible.

yep

I have a clean driving record, but since I live in downtown LA, am male, and 23, my insurance is $180/mo for full coverage + $500 deductible. Some other places were quoting $300 when I was shopping around.
