Default Changing wheels...

Morning everyone. I've decided to upgrade the wheels and tires on my 2001. After checking some posts on the subject, I need some clarification . Am I correct in assuming that I will be able to put 17 inch wheels on my 2001? Any suggestions of a store that has aftermarket wheels in stock and on display? I would like to see them up close before I purchase. Things never look the same viewed on the internet. thanks all Stan

17s will be fine. I can't help on the store though...I've always just shopped online.

Like Bryan said 17's will fit fine, just have to pay attention to the wheel offsets. The S has pretty high offsets. There is a lot of info on this in the wheel and tire section of the forum.

Your best bet might be to head out to some meets and S2000 get togethers to see what people are running. I know quite a few people in the Pittsburgh area have aftermarket wheels. Please dont put a set of wheels on it, tilt them, and drive around with the car scraping off of the road.

I don't think we have to worry about him doing that since he can form complete sentences and punctuate.

StanW, I've spent the last 8 months trying to figure out what wheels I should get this spring, whether I want to try for 255mm up front or settle for 245mm tires, how much camber is needed and whether I want to mess with any fender/liner modification to get it all to work together with the springs I want. I still haven't finalized it, lol.

Ideally, I would like to remove the spring from the front shock assembly and test the limits of wheel movement in a controlled environment. Maybe try various wheel/tire combos at that time. But easier said than done to coordinate all of this.

When I made my move to 17's, I did a lot of google image searching. There are also lots of wheel-specific threads in the gallery section of s2ki that may be helpful.

Unfortunately, the number of wheel choices we have without needing to roll fenders/modify wheel liners/relocate rear bumper tabs is a bit limited, IMO. That's especially the case if you want to drop the car. I ultimately went with a set of stock 17's (AP2v3).

Like others have said above, go to an s2k meet and you'll probably see most of the popular combinations in one place.

Good luck!

This was my plan when I had my 01. A lot of these floating around on craigslist between Pittsburgh and Cleveland.

I actually have a set of AP2V2 wheels off the car now. I was thinking about selling them and getting some aftermarket ones. Or just get another set of rear wheels for the front. Not sure. You can try them on if you like.
