Clicking
Help please.
So as you may or may not know, i have done a transmission overhaul, and got a the competition clutch stage 2 clutch kit, and the toda chromoly flywheel. They got it all back together, and I went to take it home last week on Tuesday........only to take it back 15 minutes later due to some serious clicking noises.
So they took it apart (again) and said they can't find anything wrong. everything "looks cherry" (according to their words) and that everything is where it should be. They said they ONLY thing they can "think" of that is causing the throwout bearing may not be as "tight" as it should be and its loose and thusly rattling around inside.
I don't have enough knowledge to know if what they told me is a legitimate possibility or not. I am calling the place I bought the clutch from to question them, and I am looking at getting a new throw out bearing if the clutch place won't have anything to do with it.
Does this sound right? Would anybody know if the clicking noise could be caused by a throwout bearing? Is it possible that I got a bad throwout bearing? If I get a new one should I stay OEM?
To give a further demonstration, it almost sounds like a SERIOUS SERIOUS valve clicking, simply just down in the tranny area (near the very front where the tranny meets the engine).
I haven't had the s2000 for going on 3 weeks now, so I would really much like to get some feedback quick so I get figure out what I need/want to do.
Thanks in advance.

It is sporadic when it ticks on idle. it mostly ticks when I rev up to about 2k or 3k.
Afterwards, it (seems like it) quits ticking. Granted I didn't rev it above 6k due to the newness of flywheel and clutch.
The ticking doesn't seem to change in speed though. Whether it is ticking (although it is sporadic) at idle, or when I'm making it tick from revving, the tick speed seems to be the same.

If it's the throwout bearing, the clicking would only happen when the clutch pedal is depressed, because that is when the bearing is engaged. If the clicking is constant whether clutch is in or out, then you have bigger fish to fry...
Doing some more research has revealed that its an OE throwout bearing that has come with the clutch, so that has confirmed that it couldn't be the bearing.
Anybody have any thoughts or insight as to what it may be? Random shots in the dark as just as good, because this transmission place isn't exactly sure (sigh). The last thing the shop said when I last talked to them was that they are wondering if it might be a "height problem". whatever that means, I didn't even care to ask at this point.
And therein lies my consequence for not going with a performance-savvy shop. But I wanted the warranty these guys offer!

Yes you should have gone to a more experienced shop.
I hope they made sure to use the alignment tool when bolting up the pressure plate.
As for the "height", it probably means the diaphragm may somehow slip on the throwout bearing. Doesn't that clutch kit come with all the bearings included? I have had the issue with an ACT kit where the bearing made funny noises so I just went and got an OEM one from Honda which fixed all the problems. It was not ticking though.
There really isn't much else to it other than the pilot bearing. I don't see much of a point of replacing this but if they did, they may have misaligned it. That is a longshot because it usually fits nicely.
Third thing I can think of is proper torque and order of bolt up on both the flywheel and the pressure plate. Again, highly unlikely to screw that up.
Don't defective bearings click? Like on the wheels?
