Thank you for letting me drive the car. Woah is all I can say. Car just picks up and pulls immediately. Car feels perfect, and it is how it should come from the factory. Started up perfectly, pulls away, and the car just rips! Part of buying an '08 was so I can get flashpro, and after that drive I know I will be very happy once I get all my power mods together.

Does anyone know how much extra wear and tear is caused to the cam's and engine by running a lower vtec point?

I wouldn't think it would be much wear and tear at all if any. This is assuming its done correctly and not dropped down to some crazy rpms like say 3000. If the motor has the fuel and oil pressure to efficiently run in vtec I do see how entering vtec at a lower point would damage the engine.

I agree with the Feezzle™

Not sure if you've heard the urban legend but apparently Honda did have the power band super smooth like this initially. Then apparently marketing took a hold of it and made the engineers cause a "hump" so they could spin the VTEC moniker as an OMG feature.

If the tune is right, this mod should actually prolong the life of your drivetrain as you end up with the perfect settings for this particular environment and not a generic work-everywhere-in-the-world engine mapping.

You may even get to use the TunerView some day

That's exactly what I wanted to say Ivan, but I couldn't come up with the words to express it clearly.

I am considering doing the Flashpro as welll when it cools down this fall. Since I have never had the spark plugs changed or Valves adjusted, would it be better to have those done before getting the Tune ? The car has 66,000+ miles.

Are there any other maintenance items that should be done before to get a better tune ?

Thanks,

If it were me I would have all the new maintenance items swapped in with a few thousand miles on them. I don't know if it's required or not but there is no way it could hurt.

I'm a huge proponent for changing your OEM spark plugs once a year
(Iridium upgrade lasts a little longer)
If you take a look at new/used ones side by side, you'll see how much efficiency you're losing for $10

Valve adjustment never hurts either.
As I've told you Matt, I didn't expect to need one myself but I ended up adjusting almost every valve on my car and I only have 40k.

Other than that, I'd do intake/header/exhaust/TP+celfix before a tune if you're ever planning on adding those. At least change your air filter.

Well i guess Im about 3 1/2 years behind the plugs LOL!! The rest(oil, tranny, diff etc) is always done on a routine basis. I usually do the air filter every 10-12k miles.

Is there a huge difference if the exhaust and intake are left off?
