Trouble Strikes Again
So I get my car back and seemingly, it turns out that the transmission (read previous posts) is finally done right. A little notchy, and has clutch buzz, but its operational and no bad noises. So i was happy to finally have my car after this lousy transmission shop had my car for 38 days.
So I'm driving it around and I keep noticing and increasingly loud whirring/clicking noise. I thought it was (again) the transmission. So I took it back again. They looked at it and said it was the "driveshaft. It looks like its out of balance and skipped some teeth" Dumb me believed them. So finally i took it to where my car should've been in the first place: Science of Speed. But by that time, the noise had gotten SOOOOO bad, I had to have it towed. The noise was louder than when i've ran open-header. I couldn't even talk in the car. So SOS took a look at it, and almost immediately knew what it was: differential
After dropping almost $3k for tranny rebuild with new clutch and flywheel, I now need to drop more on a diff. So I let them do it this time, forgot those off name shops. So they cut me in on a good deal for a practically brand new diff (only had 2k miles on it) with the 4.77 gears in it, which i've been wanting for the longest time.
So I got that installed now, and she's running strong again :-D Now when the engine goes, I will pick up that J's racing or Spoon engine and just swap. Not gonna bother rebuilding this one most likely.
So the 4.77 is amazing. The acceleration difference is impressive. Its hard to FEEL the difference (for me anyhow) but I can definitely tell the difference in time and speed. But wow, does it rev a lot higher and need more gear changes. lol. What used to be 85mph @ about 4k rpm in 6th is now 85mph @ about 6.5k rpm in 6th.
to gas
So just thought i'd share with you all. Next on my list: ECU with a lean tune. Followed by ITBs

They did an AMAZING job too. First attempt they got it right (unlike the transmission shop), haven't had any problems yet, and I have in no way been conservative since i got it back. In addition, they called me a few days later just to follow up with me and see how she was running. Now that's customer care right there! They have 100% won ALL of my future business.

Cool, you won't regret the 4.77s. Have you seen this: 2.4l stroker thread
Btw, did you still wanna drive it to feel clutch/flywheel difference, you're definitely more than welcome

Ya so far I'm loving it. That thread is awesome, that's where I'm headed, can't wait to get there, but I'm thinking I'm shooting for 2.5.

Ya really. Well. We were going to Dallas for christmas, but we cancelled our trip and that gave us access to the funds necessary to recover from the repair expenses. Bummer for the trip but we're back on track with no debt from the repair, so that's a relief.
