Default anybody good with stereos? i need help

so i just installed my pioneer deh-p4000ub HU, polk 651's, and a bluapunkt 8 inch powered sub, along with an older 2 channel pioneer amp for the polks in the door.

it took forever, i think about 11 hours.

so i get in the car after getting everything done and making sure it all worked properly, and i notice a high pitched hum coming from the front speakers. it gets louder with more throttle, and increases pitch with the rpm's.

i figure i got a wire to close to a power source somewhere and its causing the problem, but im not sure. if anybody could offer some assistance, that'd be great.

thanks

james

oh yeah, just wanted to thank james (spurs2k) for comin over and helpin me out.

Make sure you have a good ground for the whole system. I have a separate ground for my HU. Make sure none of your other wires are running parallel with high power wires. Most ppl run the power wires down the drivers side and the speaker wires up and down the passenger side.

thanks for the advice.

i ran a distribution block from the battery, to power the amp for the polks and the sub, and i also used the same spot to ground both amps.

the power wire goes down the passenger side, while everything else is on the passenger side of the tunnel, underneath the carpet. the power and signal wires do coss around the spare tire, but im not certain that is the problem.

im gonna do some trouble shooting on the issue tomorrow to see what i can come up with, aslong as my knee quits hurting. the work i did today freakin owned my body, lol. im beat.

I was glad to help out! I just wish I could have stayed a little longer.

So you are only getting the noise from the front speakers and not the sub? I know you mentioned that you ran new, heavier gage wires to the door speakers, but I'm not sure that would be the problem if you ran them in the same place as the old ones.

We already knew to run your speaker wires in a different place than your power wires so I doubt this is the issue. I would try seperate ground points for both amps. Make sure you scrape away any paint around the area so you can get a good metal on metal ground.

Anybody got anything else to add?
