Default Anyone Boosted?

Hey guys, Im currently stationed in italy with my AP1. There is only one other AP2 here at my base and no italians with them that i have seen. Ive been curious about going FI and doing remote tuning for a while. Thats what most of us have to do since we are abroad. I would see a boosted S2k. I have never seen one in person but the numbers for all i read about seem pretty legit. It might give me the extra nudge i need to buy a kit. Im going home on leave next week in Conway AR, and im going to be traveling to Kingland, TX for a week also. Would be nice to meet up with some S2K folks and see what else is out there.

EgoFreak, I have a 2002 S2000 that I had supercharged (Comptech supercharger and after-cooler kit/$5,000) about 6 years ago. With the AP1 supercharger pulley it produced about 5.5 psi boost at 8,800 rpm. I soon found out that the supercharger had a defective oil gasket that was allowing oil to get into the airflow. I shipped the supercharge back to the company that made the unit and had it fixed under warranty. At the same time I had them take off the AP1 pulley and replace it with the slightly smaller AP2 pulley. Reinstalled on the car the max boost at 8,800 rpm was 7 psi. Since the system included an aftercooler, the max boost reaching the engine's intake with either pulley is cut by 0.5 psi due to restriction of passing the hot air through the aftercooler. With the AP2 pulley, the max pressure is 6.5 psi which produces 310 rwhp with 91 octane gas. Stock S2000 cars usually dyno between 195 to 205 rwhp. Except for the oil gasket and one supercharger belt replacement, I have had zero problems with the Comptech supercharger kit. The car now has 50,000 miles on it with about 25,000 miles using the supercharger.
After having the Comptech supercharger kit installed ($800 labor), I purchased a used set of AP2 17 inch wheels and installed new Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position (F. 225/45R17, R. 255/40R17) summer tires on them. In addition to being one inch larger in diameter, the AP2 wheels are one-half inch wider in front and one inch wider in the rear. This wheel/tire size combination is the same as comes on the track-ready S2000 CR cars. My car now handles neutral when pushed to the limit in curves, whereas before (with the OEM 205/55R16 front and 225/50R16 rear tire sizes (Bridgestone RE050A Pole Position tires) it exhibited over-steer when pushed near to the limit in curves.
It is my understanding that any boost over 7.5 psi requires an aftermarket engine management system (EMS) and larger injectors. The Comptech supercharger kit uses a little electronic module to fool the OEM EMS so that it does not see the boost. This works well after retuning, but you can expect to lose 1-2 mpg over stock. I am still running the stock clutch, etc. with no problems, but I do not drag race the car. Want to use more than 7.5 psi boost? Then expect to have to strengthen the entire drivetrain.
Several times a year I participate in the spirited driving of the semi-annual Arkansas Boston Mountains Tours. The BMT events are all-day and cover about 270-300 miles. I checked my gas mileage for the Fall BMT 13 and received 19.96 mpg (AM section) and 20.33 mpg (PM section) with two adults in the car.
Most of the S2000 owners I know that have installed turbocharger kits end up having problems (heatsink, etc.) and usually remove the turbo kits because the car has become unreliable.
Check out the Fall BMT'13 thread on this site as there are several HD vids of the tour that you can watch.
I live in NW Arkansas and if you want to look at my supercharged S2000 just PM me.
