Default A/C Compressor

So, I'm driving to work today, headed to kenner from the Westbank on I-10, and I feel my shaking (as if the ecu were trying to adjust). Then a stank burning smell fills my cabin (i'm top down right now btw), and i assume the smell was coming from the work that was being done between Bonnabel and Clearview. Then the a/c stop blowing cold air, so I turn it off and thought that a rock had found its way onto my a/c condenser (again). Sooo, I arrive at work, pop my hood and see smoke billowing out. Looking around, I narrowed it down to my a/c compressor, the belt was bubbling where it was sitting on the compressor.

With the a/c ON, the compressor is seized and the belt is rubbing up against the compressor as it turns, with the a/c OFF the belt moves just fine. MY PROBLEM IS, that now I need to replace my a/c compressor AND my timing belt.

So anyone with experience changing out an a/c compressor is much appreciated.
Thank, Francis

Serpentine belt? There is no timing belt.

I have no experience with a/c systems in cars, but I'll be happy to lend a hand. My dad taught me well and I can figure out pretty much anything. I've got gauges and shit so we can recharge the system after replacement.

That better?
