an update on the a/c story...

so i recieve a phonecall from the service guy who is assigned to my car, and Honda of America will shoulder 1200 worth of the bill, which then translate to 2200ish out of pocket. obviously i am not satisfied with the figures they threw at me. currently, im at a 'all-or-nothing' point. soooo i have contacted honda of america and told them the run down on the car. they have assigned me a case manager and said i will be recieving a phone call from the guy in a couple of days.

so wish me luck!

Can you get a detail of what is wrong?

It has to be more than just a compressor.

apparently the compressor crapped out and seized up (i couldnt get an explanation from the service guy as to how and why), and shot metal shavings throughout the a/c system, including the ac lines, condenser, dryer, expansion valve etc.

I have been down this road. About three years ago. They will never get all the metal shavings out. Insist that they replace everything in the a/c system under the hood or the metal shaving will come back to haunt you. IIRC mine failed three times before honda replaced the entire system, under warranty. They gave me 3yr/36000mi warranty on the new system. On the plus side, I put thousands, and I do mean thousands of miles of miles on a loaner accord while my car spent about 2 months with them.

Yeah, there for a little while I began to feel like an Accord owner.

today's update:

i called my case manager over at corporate honda, and he spoke with the district parts service manager (dpsm). well, to keep it simple, they denied my request for full coverage on the repair. needless to say, im not happy with the results, so im consulting a lawyer on what options i have.

wish me luck.... again

A/C is a closed system. There has to be a way to flush it. We could flush everything through the bad compressor. Let all the crap collect in it then replace it!
