Shop for an LS swap
Does anyone have any experience with shops in the area that have experience with LS swaps in S2000s? I'm in Little Rock, Ar, but would consider shops in Memphis, Shreveport, Texarkana, or Dallas for a build. I've been thinking about an LS3 swap, but would want a shop with some S2000 knowledge to do it. I know that import muscle has a lot of the swap parts and supplies, etc. Any ideas or experiences anyone can share?

You really need to take it to a shop that is more into custom fabrication then per say knowledge of the s2000. What are your power goals? Use for the car? Ls3 is a rather expensive motor and most power goals can be accomplished with a ls1 5.3.

Power goals are 400-500 whp. I'm open to any LS swap. LS3 would be easier to find a lower mileage motor/tranny combo, even though more expensive. The car would be a weekend car mainly, but some every day use so I don't want it to be too crazy. I want it to be as clean as possible. I will pay extra to keep it from being pieced together and be a constant project. I'd prefer a shop that has experience with the swap, but that isn't a necessity. I just don't want a shop that "can" do the swap, but isn't familiar with the S2000.

How is an LS3 easier to find? A 5.3 is going to be by far the easiest. Given its in any tahoe, suburban, truck whether is be GMC or Chevy. Ls3 motors or only in the Camaro and vette. Unless it is a commonly crashed car around there I don't see it being easy Pickens. That being said a 5.3 will be about 280 HP crank. Follow that up with intake manifold, throttle body, and intake, plus a set of headers will open it about to about the 350 range. Add a cam and a tune will give 25+ easy and a set of heads will give you even more. There have been 5.3s with 400whp easy all day long. And they are a lot cheaper. Shop wise you won't find any shop that will be familiar. This is a "new" route people have taken. V8s2000.com will yield some good info for you as there actually is a swap kit. Either way this isn't as easy as saying its a bolt in at the same time its pretty straight forward as it takes a total of 12 wires to get the motor started in the s2k chassis.
