Leaving the hype aside Aus, is it really just a big iPhone that can't make phone calls ?I can just picture it now Monday morning on the train into the city .... Dozens of people are going to be playing with their new ipads!
actually the iPhone is just an iPad nano, that was released before the iPad arrived.

I don't really think it can do anything a laptop can't. It's just a much more convenient form factor. Think of the locations I listed above. A laptop is not ideally suited to any of those. Can you imagine curling up in bed with the latest e-book you've downloaded with a laptop?

Mind you, a laptop is a far more convenient device for watching a movie as it stand up by itself.

Apple have done their marketing, they found a gap in the market and filled it, that's all well and good but do we really NEED an Ipad? is it really that crucial to be online going from the kitchen to the bathroom? It just looks like a novelty tech toy.

Does it have a stylus pen or anything like that? that would be cool to be able to use it instead of a clip board and paper.

The same could be asked about just about anything. Do we really need an S2000?

You come equipped from birth with an iPad stylus.

And 9 spares just in case.

This is true, its pretty convenient and looks like a pretty cool toy. I mean if somebody gave me one for a birthday presant I wouldnt be disapointed at all. I think the thing that puts me off a bit is the way apple make it so hard to use products on their devices that apple doesnt own and make money out of. I.E with the iphone how you cant create your own ring tones and have to buy them from itunes. Although I still love my iphone, Im always a little warey of all the hidden costs and **** arounds that come behind buying an apple product.

I'm not sure about ringtones, but I make my own from mp3s using 'MakeiPhoneRingtone', a free app.

have to tried "googling" how to make own ringtones for iphone ?

its quiet simple

Or you can goto sites like audioko.net ? simply download, onto your pc , drag files into itunes an sync ringtones, very easy .

vuey, that was the first thing I tryd. In theory it seems easy but for some reason the majority of the time the ring tones refuse to sync to your phone. I converted about 10-15 different songs into the mp4 files or what ever they are and out of all those files, using the exact same process for some reason only one file actually managed to make it onto my phone so I gave up. and Ive downloaded a bunch of programs but they all turn out to be shareward ones that only allow you to capture the first 10 seconds
