iPad in S2000
We used to put the laptop on a bar stool beside the bed. But I recently got a new network media player for the lounge room so the old one goes to the bedroom. So from now on downloaded stuff will be watched on the TV in both places.
I had my iphone jail broken yesterday and now Ive got access to 100's of free ring tones
I also got a really cool s2000 theme for the phone as well. when your unlocking the phone, instead of having an arrow that you slide across youve got a silver s2000 driving across your screen as well as a bunch of other honda related features.

I'm not familiar with MythTV.
But on the iPad I have an app called Air Video. You install the Air Video server software on you Mac and point it to video files. The iPad can then play them directly or convert them on the fly. Supports many formats.

Air Video sounds cool. Might give it a try.
MythTV is a PVR on Steroids: Can have as many tuners as you can afford (I have 4 ATM), has web based scheduler/stream server, has fat client that runs on win/lin/mac, can rip dvds, store music, show you feeds from your security cameras, manage dls from a Netflix account and can distribute the load for recording/storage through different machines (when the right HW is available and configured). It is open source and community based so the price is $0 but you gotta get your hands dirty.
