i'm trying to keep my s n.a cos i love that vtec noise not b/o vale noise. its very hard to gain power from f20c cos it such a good engine, i sacrificed low end for top end power so i fitted a pair of toda cams and vale springs, toda tuned ecu, fujitsubo headers and apexi n1 exhaust.

As depressing as this may be I've seen Naishou do 1:11 in a bone stock standard S with S02's.

The only thing I can say in my defence is I weigh about 1.5 times what Naishou does and had my GF (probably the same as Naishou) on board at the time.

I wish Aus, the best I did was a 1:14 dead. It's in the WRX I've done 1:11s. I only had my S there once, and it was my second ever track day, so pride aside it's fair to assume that the car could go a fair bit faster. All S2000s aren't equal either. Even wheel alignment makes a pretty major difference and given the amount of oversteer I had that day I wouldn't be too surprised if a "pro" could do 1:12 in a car that's handling properly. I think the best time any of we amateurs have done in a standard car is still the 1:13.5 ish that was recorded at the first HSCC track day.

My bad. I have seen one guy consistently doing 1:13 in a stock S with the roof up.

Hey, I feel better about my time now!

I've got the standard so2 on right now.. and a spoon filter and fujitsubo exhaust.

My suspension won't be arriving until wednesday.. but my mechanic said that they need to be run in. so i guess they won't be going on before the track day... :-(

I think the main reason why i don't get good times, is because if the 1st corener.. i brake really early, pretty scared to run into sand trap. and also the horse shoe turn.. those corners really let me down.. as long as i can over come those.. i think i can shave up to 7 seconds..

That's also if i redline the gears... i tend to shift early.. around 7000ish...

i think i'll push much harder this thursday and get a quicker time.

wow, why would you do that in the S2000? You're not much quicker than an MX5 when you shift at 7k rpm.

If you're really shifting at 7000rpm, then this is what let's down your lap time .... there's proabably good 5secs per lap in staying between 6 - 9k rpm range. Me, I'm rarelly bellow 7k rpm when I'm on the track ... I only get bellow that when I have no choise and have to.

Don't beat yourself up if you don't take 7 seconds off infinitys2000. 1:13 is very close to the limit of what the car can do no matter who is driving. You should be happy with 1:16 or so coming from 1:20. Concentrate on smoothness, lines and braking points rather than pushing really hard. Hit your apexes and use all the road on approach and exit and you'll be surprised how easily the car can go faster. Oh, and use all your revs You might find you've been using too high a gear for some corners.
