I've been following on and off here and there. What's the overall opinion for LMP1? Less exciting now that Porsche and Audi have exited, or differing levels of excitement? It's interesting to see all of the random privateer teams that have come up with their departure, though, I think Toyota has the overall advantage, and are currently leading.

All of that said, i've mostly been interested in the GTE classes - both Pro and AM - over the years. For me, it's disappointing that the LMP1 class gets most of the commentary and screen time.

I like watching the 24hrs of Nurburgring and Spa, since it's essentially GT classes and lower.

The 'Pink Pig' Porsche had the best livery, hands down.

For me personally the appeal for LMP1 is lesser now. The draw for me was always the manufacturers fighting it out. This year the draw was Alonso and his pursuit of the triple crown in a competition that was essentially between the #7 and #8 team cars. The privateers would not have a chance unless Toyota messed up.

But keep in mind they were bridesmaids several times coming achingly close when the field was wider and have won shorter endurance races, so it was only a matter of time. I'm in no way taking things away from their achievement. It isn't like they were slouches when the other teams were around. This year they had the endurance and durability to last until the checkered and they deserve the win.

You are right that they dont show enough of the GT classes with all the manufacturers and drivers in there. I hope they increase coverage for them.

Toyota officially the 2nd japanese manufacturer to win LeMans!! Well done.
It would be cool to see Honda field a GTE NSX in the 24h.

Yeah, I agree. We saw the Penske IMSA Acura NSXs at Long Beach.

Pleased for Alonso (and Toyota) on the win, it was nice to see genuinely happy again.

I really enjoy watching the night time laps, the speed looks so much more intense when it's dark out. Seeing the cars (tail lights) fly through the Porsche curves at night is incredible.
