-Mugen Style CF Hardtop - Way less wind noise in the cabin. Minimal creaks.
-Soft Top Delete - Saved maybe 30 lbs?
-Spoon Gusset Plates - Won't have to worry about my front control arms tearing out.
-Hardrace Spherical Front Lower Compliance Bushing - Made mid corner steering feel better and more solid.
-Subframe Rigid Collars - Made the car feel different over bumps? Just got them since I found a cheaper alternative to Spoon ones.
-APR Side Mirrors - Looks cooler.
The most noticeable upgrade I have done was switching the stock HKS 16k springs to a 14k Swift springs. Before, any kind of medium to big bump at speed would upset the car. It felt like the spring compressed a bit and launched the car into the air. The car also felt twitchy at the limit as if the car was fighting for grip between all 4 tires. With my limited driving with the 14k springs so far on some backroads, I immediately noticed the feeling of the tires "grabbing" the road more. Steering feel has increased and smaller to medium bumps no longer launched the car off the ground. I could get on the throttle much more aggressively as the rear feels more planted and won't break loose as easily. Bigger bumps still upset the car but nowhere as bad as the 16k springs it came with. Car settles down much quicker and isn't nearly as sketchy.
Will be excited to test during a track day soon to see how the car feels at the limit.
Picked up a Cusco 6 Point Hans Harness over Black Friday. Since I couldn't find any pictures of these on the internet, here are some closeup.
Just by picking them up, the belt material is thicker than the older Schroth Profi I have. One thing I noticed was the permanently mounted buckle is on the left hip side vs bottom crotch belt.
The buckle is made of billet machined aluminum.
The clips are made of what seems to be aluminum with a textured finish vs the polished steel on Schroths.
Adjusters are pretty nice with a spring loaded mechanisim.
Went to the Blacktrax Test N' Tune 11 this past week. Finally got a day to test my new 14k spring setup at a familiar track. Car is definitely more stable and easier to drive at the limit and match the grip level of the Federal RS-RR's. Shaved over a second off my previous PB at Thunderhill Bypass from a 2'04.XX to a 2'03.1. Here's some footage of me chasing my friend Jeff in his AP1.
Just had a spoon clutch disk, Ballade 10lb Flywheel, and OEM pressure plate installed. Ballade flywheel had some minor fitment issues and required some sanding to fit properly.
Driving impression:
Immediately I felt the clutch pedal was much lighter than before. This was possibly because the pressure plate was brand new. The spoon clutch disk grabs a little harder than OEM which is what I wanted as well. Spoon claims that there's 30% more grip compared to an OEM clutch disk but the clutch disk looked identical to the OEM disk besides the color of the springs. It came in a Spoon box though
The flywheel was very noticeable as soon as I blipped the throttle. Revs shoot up much faster with less throttle input. The car seems to accelerate noticeably quicker especially when in VTEC. Rev matching is much more fun than the stock ap2 flywheel as well.
