How do i launch the S2k?
Give me 5 minutes of your time, a strip of road with no distractions (i.e. cops), and I'll show you how.
I think I've mastered the street launch. Basically I do what most people have been saying, but there's a fine line between getting a sweet burnout launch and bogging the car at the launch. Throttle control is the key here. I don't hold the gas pedal down at a constant 7.5 rpms ... I rev it a few times (i.e. waiting for the greenlight) and when I want to launch, I punch the throttle up to 7.5k rpms and dump the clutch.
When I do drop it, I always launch from 7.5k rpms and I sidestep that clutch or pull off of the clutch like nobody's business. After racing the local BoxterS a few times, I've laid down some serious rubber! I think the important thing here is to make sure you get wheelspin, otherwise too much of the stress is being placed on the drivetrain, which = bad news.

if u want to avoid too much wheel spin, either launch at 4-5k or launch at 7-8k and let go of the gas a little when u feel the wheel spinning. best motoring (japanese) once showed a professional driver launch an S2000. I watched his launch many times, in slow motion as well, to see what is the best time he could get. He launched at high rpm (7-8k) and just when he feels the wheel spin, he lets go a little gas (split second) so the tires catch ground and the car goes beautifully for the 1/4 mile. the time they had was around 14 seconds flat (pro, of course).

i just went out with S2K Power and we launched both of our cars a total of 8 times and we've come up with this result...if you have stock tires and stock rims...to get a good launch...you gotta dump ur clutch at 8rpms...you know you got a good launch when your rpm drops really close to vtec (6.5rpms) when we launched it at 8...we were at vtec once the rpm dropped...but the other few times we dropped to 5.5-6....so to get a really good launch...u gotta let go at 8rpms...concluded...
yeah that was fun john. What I noticed is that you must launch at high rpm's, above 7.5k in order to get good wheel spin. you also have to put the clutch all the way down then dump it as fast as your foot and come off it. as far as the gas pedal I never tried to ease up on the gas for the tires to grip sooner i think ill try that. All we did today was stay on the gas until the tires griped. Needless to say we had wheel spin for a good 2-3 secs sometimes. AND IT FELT GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!!
