Default Where did all the TRAFFIC go????

Not that I am complaining but over the past few weeks the roads have been unusually clear. Hwy17 from SV to SJ has been a dream to drive. Very few cars when I have gone in the morning and 85 and 280 have been prettly clear as well. Has anyone else noticed this?

with all the dot com layoffs, people are finally moving out of the bay area. As a resident for 30 years this is a welcomed sight. Maybe I'll even be able to afford to buy a house here!

I notice this sriving S on 280 and 101 to mid penisula during business hours. I've evn been noticing a bit on 19th avenue in SF in the mornings, although less so. My theory is that just a 10% drop in traffic at key times on 280 and 101 during the commute makes a big difference.

When I moved to the inner sunset 8 years ago there were a fair number of apt for rent signs- then they totally disappeared over the past two years. Now they are back again. Who knows, maybe someone like me (makes more than most families in the US) can afford a house in SF someday!

Yes, I have noticed the decrease in traffic over 17... I think it is due to two things, layoffs and summer vacation for the schools...you would be suprised how much traffic is school related.

Have a great weekend....Drive safely!

I guess none of you commute on 680. This week has been terrible, with the freeway closed twice for hours due to crashes ( with fatalities ). Your travel is measured in hours, not miles.

The early commuters travel too fast until they crash into each other, then the freeway is closed for the later commuters.

Thats it ! I have decided to go to work at 4am and go home at midnight....... that should solve the problem.
